April 2014 to February 2015

Ohana was a small (<10) local company that processed gift cards for clients such as Sears, AutoZone, Pep Boys and many other companies that issued gift cards. They managed the gift card processing and provided portals from the clients’ websites to our services. I created links between the clients’ sites and our system. As I had to make the look and feel of our portal look like the clients’ web sites, much of my development was HTML, JavaScript, jQuery, Bootstrap, CSS and AJAX calls to REST services. I spent an entire year doing front-end work that was tested on every type of device from phones, tablets, laptops and desktops at any orientation and size. This was the most front end reactive website development that I’d ever done.

On this project I worked with a marketing and graphics design expert who defined all of the styles and attributes. Also I worked with a very talented tester who tested on every type of devise, size and orientation.

After a year, I realized that the company was for sale and I felt like besides doing front end presentation layer, I was not doing much else. I tried to make further contributions but to no avail.
