September 1997 to April 1999
As the awesome project at JP Morgan completed I went on an interview for a position at the urging of a recruiter that I really didn’t think I would be interested in as it was a longer commute to Philadelphia. After talking with Infinity about the project I became very excited to join. At JP Morgan I started doing SOA with and that lead me to speak the SOA language of IDL with Infinity and so I was offered this position as it was doing distributed component object model (DCOM) and COM for its service architecture. I found this very exciting.
Major technologies: Visual C++, MFC, COM, DCOM, ATL, OLE DB
What did I do and accomplish:
- Developed commercial financial currency trading software using Visual C++, MFC, COM, DCOM, ATL, OLE DB, serialized data to SWIFT and back
- DCOM with call back interfaces as a server running as an NT service
- Separate large parts of client and server systems into COM modules so that pieces could be replaced or implemented differently depending on the systems
- Mentored two other developers with using C++/MFC and SQL Server
