May 2018 to September 2018
A friend and associate, Mary, whom I worked together on another project for the Federal Air Marshals a few years earlier, connected the IT director, Frank, at Ocean Resort Casino and me together to prepare the IT department for opening of the Ocean Resort Casino. This casino used to be the “Revel”. Frank interviewed me by showing me some of his code and asking me to explain its purpose and how it worked. My job duties were to interface different vendor and internal systems with each other. There were other casino vendors who developed and owned other casino systems that we needed to communicate. Ocean Resort Casino was a fairly large sized organization with much interaction between vendors.
I developed REST services to get data from player databases (IGT) to feed to Interactive Voice Response System (IVR). When a customer would call, by their phone number, we would decide which customer service level to direct the call to.
Develop a Windows service to interface the turnstile systems so that when employees entered the office, they would have their identification card scanned, their information would be sent to the security system, monitored, recorded and verified.
Develop Windows services to interface the computerized valet parking system (CVPS) This system would operate the gates on the card scan and record the employee entry and exit from the resort parking building.
Develop REST services for player information from IGT Player Management systems. These other systems are controlled by other vendors, but I wrote services to get the information from the machines and record it in our own databases.
Develop single sign-on portals for customer reservations and interfaces for web-sites to make reservations and other marketing tasks.
Have a lot of fun and adventure on this project and at Atlantic City with my wife who worked in the food-service.
As my tasks wound down, and the vendors picked up, I found a local replacement to take over my tasks as I couldn’t keep up a house in Delaware and an apartment in New Jersey.
While working at Ocean Resorts, my wife and partner Luzviminda, worked for the BBQ food service vendor preparing food and serving customers. We had a very memorable and enjoyable time there and felt like part of something big.
