After the JPED assignment, I was invited to work in Alexandria Virginia for the Casualty Mortuary Affairs Operation. They had a system called MARTS which tracked remains. It was a .Net application developed by Java developers who ported a Java Model View Controller model and Hibernate. They were unsuccessful so my task was to take their code and do whatever I could to get it working as there was a war going on.

Also, I was requested to relocate with the department to Fort Knox Kentucky and be manage this system.

This division and project brought me further into the DoD world. It brought me intimately close to the soldiers and their families. It is often high profile and in the news. There is a lot of logistics and procedure that go into this division. It broadened my outlook on life.
